Tomorrow, I wrap up a three week service learning boot camp that I taught for a group of 34 SVSU Foundation Scholars. We spent last semester identifying and planning a series of seven projects which we recently implemented. Projects included establishing gardens and playgrounds at two Saginaw County Head Start locations, building a small pavilion at a community garden in Saginaw, preparing to hold a nutrition education class at White Pine Middle School, renovating parts of the inside and outside of Good Neighbors Mission, and conducting focus groups on community needs of members of the Saginaw Cathedral District. Some of the groups even picked up some news coverage. Here's an article from the Saginaw News:

There is also a story from ABC 12 that will air tomorrow (5/27/11) at 5:00. Great job students!
